Pretty in pink.

While uncertainty surrounds me and the visibility ahead is foggy, both personally & professionally, I am inexplicably at peace. Despite so many different shifts taking place in the everyday fibers of my life — strength embraces itself like a couture Snuggie.

Today, which happens to be Thanksgiving, resiliency has appeared in the form of family.

Tragically I only see my ginormous circle of DNA [18 crew members deep] in their entirety a handful of times every year. So when I do get to enjoy their company in the flesh, each and every moment is savored.

Holidays are inevitably absolute, total and complete chaos. Loudness pierces the eardrums from sunrise to well past sunset; children put their lives in jeopardy every seven minutes with each passing sharp edge and flying objects not intended to be thrown at faces; cases of wine bottles fill up the recycling bin @ warp speeds; ovens, toasters, blenders, microwaves, stove tops and kitchen counter space put in impressive overtime.

Normally at this point, I’d blow out a Top 10 gratitude list. But instead, painting my 6-year-old niece’s nails sounds like a better use of this coveted, precious, pretty in pink time.
