Life is like a box of chocolates.
I couldn’t help but notice my back (and front) side has expanded. Shout out to the coveted single digit jeans for pointing that out. Granted, I washed a pair, which is a recipe for sabotaging the perfect worn-in fit. But when I attempted to pull them up to their highest potential, the zipper reached for an oxygen tank. Shit shit shit. When did this happen? Ohhhh that’s right....

An observant friend told me that this has certainly been “my month.” I won’t argue that. So, for official documentation purposes in the history books, we’re assigning 2009’s last 31 days to moi — Miss December. I haven’t spent too much time blogging about my job search in recent weeks because I’ve been quite consumed in content regarding the location of my future husband and then reintegrating...

Statement.
After killer shoes, I love me some accessories. Specifically, bling bling rings. Not only do they spice up outfits and often become a conversation piece, but they double as a self defense device. Quite practical if ya ask me. While in NYC over Halloween, I picked up a fabulous gigantic gold & white one in the shape of a bloomed flower for a whopping $15 — a tribute to the Sex & The City...

Mini me.
The single smartest, most strategic decision I ever made was aligning myself with mentors. Marketing, by definition, is about being creative in how you present yourself and/or the product to your end user and closing a deal. My college education was in news journalism and worked in the field for several years, but later realized my internal infrastructure needed a much more creative environment....

Girl crush.
Sarah Jessica Parker is on the media circuit now, promoting her new movie, Did you hear about the Morgans? I’ve caught her late night on David Letterman and mid-morning on Regis & Kelly — even scooped up a few fashion magazines with her fabulous self front & center. With this cult-like following I exhibit, it hit me — I have a girl crush. Physically, I’d say Megan Fox is my...

Star Wars theory.
Mr Big: Since you have correlated our relationship so closely to the S&TC storyline, you do realize that IF Big and Carrie split in this next movie that you will hear plenty of nonsense, right?
Me: Yes, I do.
Mr. Big: OK. I was just checking.
Mr. Big: If they do split, we can end our correlation to the storyline at the end of the 1st movie, K?
Me: Perfect. But honest to God, although I *said* I won't discuss or speculate, I really dont think they split. Or if they have a hiccup in #2, they won't split indefinitely. They're Big and Carrie.
Mr. Big: Well I hope not. I still believe in my Star Wars theory.
Me: How so?
Mr. Big: 1st movie - sets everything up... Climax: Good guys win, everyone is happy, 2nd movie - continues with background of characters since 1st movie. Bad guys show back up and movie ends with good guys distraught and conclusions are left up in the air, 3rd movie - quickly gathers all the good guys and solves many of the negative issues with a climactic battle between the good guys and bad guys. Good guys winning of course....

Peace of mind.
My life has taken an unexpected 180 degree turn recently. And yet, I’ve never felt this level of peace before. That’s when you know the Man upstairs is up to something, doing His thing at a busy workshop. Although I have a crush on Santa, with his protruding belly, hearty laugh and fabulous black boots, this holiday season will be spent writing gratitude lists to Big G instead. At...

Brighter than sunshine.
Sometimes my life shows up in the form of a movie, including transparent overarching themes, ironies, moments, and unforgettable one-liners. Over the weekend, during my impromptu NYC trip with my Mr. Big, we created and starred in our very own Indie romantic comedy film. Our flight was super early on Saturday so we laid low Friday night. He suggested we watch “our movie” A Lot Like...

Carrie on.
Despite my heroic efforts to dodge Sex & The City, Part Deux movie coverage — behind the scene photos, gossip, plot lines, character relationships — I can’t seem to find a bat cave dark enough to protect me from enemy infiltration: The Media. Bloggers, tabloid magazines, Entertainment Tonight and the like are all fascinated by the film, as they should be, but they selfishly...

Empire state of mind.
I’ve decided to accept the Big Apple excursion with Mr. Big. Although I was just there a month ago, and will be making the trip again for Christmas in two weeks to see Yankee-based family members, I simply can’t refuse a reunion in my favorite city, with my favorite man. When he first proposed the idea, I immediately gave non-negotiables in order for me to agree. No flight delays. ...

This is only a test.
I’m a writer — it’s what I do. The scope of my biological makeup was designed to put pen on paper. When I learned to type in 7th grade, I remember being so frustrated because I’d type thoughts in my head. Literally, I’d have a vision in my mind of tapping on a keyboard what I was thinking. It drove me bonkers, but accidentally gave me an exceptionally high words per minute...

I am getting this notarized.
Mr. Big: I know that the odds are stacked against me. I know your friends don't believe in me. I know that you don't trust me. I know that no movie quote will make things right.
Me: Yes.
Mr. Big: I just know that I have made a lot of mistakes in the past and this past year has also helped me realize how important you are to me. I vowed to you last night that THIS IS IT. NO MORE NONSENSE.
Me: As Carrie said, "Yea, Yea...put it in writing." Oh, wait, you just did.

Change.
When I agreed to meet with Mr. Ex, in retrospect, there were no expectations. Other than a hot meal. Although I did make some assumptions. He’d be wearing jeans, converse sneakers, and a button down shirt. A 50% chance he’d be late picking me up. A 75% chance something with work would impact our evening and push back the 7pm kickoff time. We’d eat dinner at either my favorite...

Back from the dead.
So I’ve been knee deep in husband shopping, minding my own business, dating as if I’m on payroll. Then wake up from a very, very late night at a dear friend’s wedding reception over the weekend…when Mr. Ex pops up on my Palm’s 2”x2” screen. He asked to please talk at my convenience, in person. Within minutes, my only sister by blood tells me Mr. Ex has...

Touchdown.
Last night’s date was with the Quarterback, I rate it an 8.5. Quick background — I dated him for 2 months last spring. Fell for him pretty hard and fast, but I was pretty jaded from a past relationship and felt he wasn’t quite stepping up to the plate, so I got off the field with the quickness. Now he is back, trying out for a 2nd chance and prove he deserves to be first string on my...

Rate the Date.
Last night’s date with the Student went well. I rate it an 8 out of 10. Here’s why. The plan was to meet “for drinks” but as soon as I arrived at the trendy spot and he immediately ordered my staple vodka-soda, the date asked if I was hungry. We agreed on holding onto the menu in case our appetites made an appearance later. Although I’m perfectly fine with a...

We're in a recession.
Sister: What is this...a bronzer?
Me: Yep.
Sister: Wait, is that Wet n' Wild?
Me: Yep. I went from M*A*C to W&W.
Sister: Laughs.
Me: What? We're in a recession.

Manache.
I woke up with a headache this morning. And no, I didn’t knock out a bottle of vino last night, or stay up way past my bedtime watching the Late Late Show. Quite confused as to what my brain’s issue was and popping two advils with the quickness, it hit me. It’s these damn men. No lie — managing my dating life has literally become a pain in my ass, or technically, my mind. By...

Holiday dating guide.
Came across this Holiday Dating Guide for Women…and shocking, it caught my eye. Think there is truth in most, and humor in all. My personal favorites are in bold, special thanks to past experiences. Avoid any guy who lists “blogger” on his resume. The reasons to do this are too numerous to list. Avoid any guy who starts a sentence with “If you Google me…” Avoid any guy who quotes Judd...
